Review - Dior 5 Color Designer Eyeshadow Palette
If you remember, I bought a Dior palette (somewhat on an impulse) and I promised a review.
QUALITY
The quality of the eyeshadows is very good. Compared to the 'drugstore' brands, it is better, the shadows are silky. They're aren't powdery at all.
PIGMENTATION
The white shade is a bit of a hit and miss. When I use the sponge tip applicators that come with the quad, the white can be seen. If I use a eyeshadow brush, it's a completely different story.
The gold is very lovely, it's a lot more orange than it is yellow though.
The pink shimmery colour isn't pigmented but the glitter is quite nice if you like glitter. If you use it after you apply on the middle of your eyelid after applying all the colors, you can get a really nice dimensional effect with it.
The brown colour is very nice, neutral shade. It's nothing special, but it is of good quality.
EYELINER
The cream liner is very good. I've tried a lot of liners and a lot of them just crease because of my oily eyelids. It does fade over time, which I'm not surprised at, but it doesn't crease.
AFTER A FEW HOURS
Eventually by the end of the day the colours sort of mix together and crease a little bit. I do think it's not the fault of the shadows though. I do have oily lids and I use MAC's paint pot in Painterly as a primer (which isn't the best as a primer). I have yet to purchase a really good primer.
Is it worth the $103 that you would pay? Yes and no. You essentially pay for the packaging and the better quality eyeshadows. For me, it is a really convenient eyeshadow quad because I can just use that quad for my eyes. I don't need to grab different eyeshadows and a separate eyeliner. If you're happy to use eyeshadows that are slightly lesser quality but a lot cheaper, then this isn't the palette you should invest in.
