Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
Today after work, I went to watch Harry Potter with my high school graduating class. We watched Part 1 together and it only made sense to watch Part 2 together as a reunion. It was really nostalgic because this movie marks the end of my childhood.
I do hope that anyone reading this post has read the book. Honestly, if you're watching ANY movie based on a book, you read the book first. If it were for any other movie, I wouldn't spoil it.
HOWEVER, this is Harry Potter we're talking about, so I hope to dear that you've read it. Because Harry Potter movies make no sense if you haven't read the book.
Visual wise, it was amazing to see. In a way, it's because to some degree we believe in the world that is Harry Potter so we believe all the phenomenal visual that we see on screen. However, it doesn't present anything new but that shouldn't really distract from the fact that it's amazing.
I'm not sure if it's because I was watching this movie with a group of people who find the smallest things funny, but there were a lot of laughs at random moments. If you're watching this movie by yourself, you'd probably keep the giggles and chuckles to yourself. A memorable moment was when Hermione under a polyjuice potion as Bellatrix Lestrange was trying to get in character. I think Helena Bonham Carter did a really good job conveying Hermione through Bellatrix.
There are plenty of moments that will bring a tear to your eye and for me it was all building up until Harry "died". People were already bawling their eyes out when Snape died.
I felt there was a lot of content to cram into the 2.5 hrs that the movie is. I would have liked smaller details like Trelawney dropping her crystal balls on the heads of the Death Eaters and the deaths of Fred, Tonks and Lupin to be more significant.
Overall, I think this particular movie did the book justice (unlike a couple of previous instalments) and it's well worth watching.
Thank you to J.K Rowling who gave us the world of Harry Potter and made our childhoods magical.
